A private journal for your own options trades.
Aftermark is in pre-launch and isn't available to download yet. You'll add trades to your journal yourself or import them from files. We're still deciding which brokers the first release will read files from, and we'll list them here before launch. Aftermark never connects to your brokerage to place, change or cancel orders.
At launch it will run entirely on your own machine and keep an accurate record of your own past trades: what happened, and what did it cost?
No account. No cloud. Your trades will not leave your computer.
Pre-launch. Aftermark is not for sale and not available to download today. The sections below describe what it will do at launch. Planned pricing is on the pricing page.
What it will do
Your book
Positions, deposits, and true profit and loss measured against what you actually put in — plus an account-value history over time.
Realized gain and loss
Lot-level FIFO matching, with long-term and short-term classified separately and partial closes allocated proportionally.
Post-mortems and a mistake ledger
Write up a trade while it is fresh, tag what went wrong, and keep a running record of the errors that repeat.
Expiry list and concentration
A list of your open positions by expiration date, and the share of your account in each underlying. Display only; no alerts.
An options math calculator
Enter your own numbers and see the arithmetic: the cost and maximum loss of a size you choose, a profit table at prices you choose, and option greeks. Everything is computed in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere. It does not suggest trades or sizes.
Lot-detail export
A CSV shaped like your broker's own realized gain/loss lot detail, for handing to whoever prepares your taxes.
Aftermark does not identify or adjust for wash sales or other tax-lot rules, so its profit and loss figures may differ from your broker's Form 1099-B and from what you report to the IRS. Use your broker's tax documents and a tax professional for tax reporting. Aftermark is not tax software and does not give tax advice.
How your trades will get in
Aftermark is in pre-launch and isn't available to download yet. You'll add trades to your journal yourself or import them from files. We're still deciding which brokers the first release will read files from, and we'll list them here before launch. Aftermark never connects to your brokerage to place, change or cancel orders.
It cannot place an order
Aftermark does not place, modify or cancel orders, and it cannot move money. This is not a promise on a marketing page — it is enforced in the program. On every startup it scans its own shipped code for any order-placing path and refuses to run if it finds one.
What stays on your machine
Your trades, notes and exports are files on your own disk. There is no account to create, no cloud to sync to, and no telemetry. We never receive your journal, and we operate no server that Aftermark connects to.
The dashboard loads no third-party fonts, scripts, analytics or tracking pixels — every asset it uses is local. With no keys configured, it opens no outbound connection at all. When you do configure a data provider, the request goes directly from your computer to that provider, under your own account with them.
The flip side, said plainly: there is no backup either. If you delete the folder or the disk fails, it is gone. Back it up yourself.
What it deliberately does not do
Most of the cost of any software is discovering its limits too late. Here are ours, before launch.
- Aftermark does not identify or adjust for wash sales or other tax-lot rules, so its profit and loss figures may differ from your broker's Form 1099-B and from what you report to the IRS. Use your broker's tax documents and a tax professional for tax reporting. Aftermark is not tax software and does not give tax advice.
- It does not tell you what to buy or sell. Nothing it shows is a recommendation or advice. Every number it produces is arithmetic on inputs you gave it.
- It does not include market data. If you want current prices to value positions you already hold, you can add your own key from a data provider you sign up with directly, under that provider's terms.
- It has no mobile app and no hosted version.
